Our Philosophy

As we build a bridge from home to school, we help children form social skills, explore the world around them, and see themselves as active and capable learners, all of which contribute to a strong self-image.

Established in 1969, DNPCCNS is the longest running nursery school in the West Windsor, Princeton Junction area. Our 55 years of experience has allowed us to fine tune educational basics and explore new and exciting ways of learning.

Since the doors opened, DNPCCNS has educated and nurtured thousands of students, guiding them into their school years and beyond with a devotion to continued growth, proper development and building a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Our main educational philosophy is based in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Social and Emotional Learning is the process which children become aware and effectively apply the understanding, knowledge and skills necessary to identify and regulate emotions. SEL concentrates on positive self-image, impulse control, perspective taking, empathy, communication skills and problem solving. Overwhelming research has shown that children who are exposed to SEL become self-motivated learners that are able to maintain healthy relationships and practice self-care. Throughout your child’s day, our teachers incorporate these skills into play, literature, group time, science, social studies and cooperative games and projects. Early Childhood Programs that concentrate on SEL lead to more engaged students and stronger mental health.

Our dedicated and experienced teaching staff provides families the continuity so important in early education. We offer a secular curriculum embracing the different cultures of our families.
